HEALING CONNECTIONS ASSOCIATES…

is an innovative community-based non-profit home care aide agency founded in 1993.  HCA is committed to improving the health of our community and the quality of life of persons who are poor through the provision of holistic services that foster self-determination and dignity.  Its twofold mission is to provide quality employment and support for women seeking self-sufficiency and competent paraprofessional home care services to persons who are underserved by existing programs, especially the elderly poor.

HEALING CONNECTIONS CLIENTS…

are primarily economically disadvantaged elderly persons with disabilities.  One in five residents in Cincinnati is over sixty (60) years of age and forty-two percent (42%) of these individuals are living in the poorest neighborhoods of the city.  Chronic disabilities, loneliness, isolation, poor health, improper diet and lack of personal and neighborhood resources relegate many of our low-income senior citizens to a “high risk” status in our community.

HEALING CONNECTIONS CERTIFIED

HOME CARE AIDES…

are women seeking self-sufficiency and improved economic status for their families.  Many are single heads of households who are transitioning off public assistance.  They complete an eight-week nurse aide / home care aide-training program at Bethany House Services and pass the Ohio state competency exam.  These women then are hired as certified home care aides by HCA and receive salary and benefits along with mentoring, access to additional training and supportive services that enable them to retain their employment.

THE HEALING CONNECTION...

is the assistance the elderly clients receive from their home care aides with personal hygiene, homemaking, meal preparation, laundry and simple medical treatments.  The intangible benefit to clients and aides alike is companionship.  The relationship makes for compassionate and holistic care and a sense of purpose that meets the needs of each and restores the dignity of both.

COLLABORATION…
